[ no audio ] [ please stand bry ] >> any of us are able to take questions from any of you. let me start with special agent delorria. >> thank you very enough, governor patrick. my name is rick delorria. let me recap our investigative efforts this afternoon. yesterday, at this time, our collaborative efforts were focused on saving lives and treating the injured. at the same time, resources were directed to ensure the safety of our community. as soon as those important tasks were completed, first responders focused on establishing a criminal investigation. the fbi's boston joint terrorism task force, composed of more than 30 federal, state, and law enforcement agencies, including the boston police, the massachusetts state police, atf, hsi, united states secret service, and others responded to the scene. many were already there as part of the general security for the marathon already in place. first step law enforcement took was to secure the physical area in the area of the blast to protectegance devices itself. -- protect against devices it

're heading right now. >> we did learn from governor duval patrick that president obama will be here thursday morning, 11:00 a.m. eastern for an interfaith service. the president will be here in boston thursday morning for this service, 11:00 a.m. gloria borger has been doing some reporting on what's been going on as well. what are you learning? >> i've spoken with a senior law enforcement source who is very familiar with the investigation, says a few things to me. right now as you've been talking about, the investigation is completely inconclusive. he said they believe they had something with the saudi national that evaporated and left them without latching on to anybody or any motive. he said to me it's not a good sign that they're still asking people to send in photographs because that means they're not much of anywhere with this investigation. what he says they will try to do is reassemble a close facsimile of the bomb and timing device so they look for that signature that john king was just talking about. they ask the question, does this resemble anything we have seen anywhere else? and
. >> that was the latest from boston and watertown. governor duval patrick urging bostonian and those in the area saying stay in your homes. the headline out of that news conference there will be controlled explosions taking place on norfolk street and chief devo of watertown, saying this crime scene, the presence of law enforcement officials may go through the weekend. with us former fbi profiler and nbc news analyst, clint van zandt. the controlled explosion and the caution from governor patrick to stay in your homes, would certainly seem to suggest that -- well there may be bombs planted elsewhere in the city, that they are trying to secure the area as much as they can, but there are certainly still some unknowns. >> yeah. it seems like they've told us a couple of things or haven't told us a couple things. number one, what was missing from that press conference that we all hoped to hear was that we have subject number two barricaded in a house, the house is surrounded and we're conducting negotiations. we didn't hear that. that doesn't mean it's not taking place. but the state police commander colone
